Hygiene and health

Many of the families we support live in precarious conditions, without access to running water, electricity, or heating, which makes it hard for them to maintain adequate hygiene. The absence of essential facilities—such as doing laundry or practising personal hygiene—affects not only the physical health of children and parents but also their emotional well-being, creating an urgent need for psychological and social support.

To improve their quality of life, Valentina Romania provides:

  • Access to washing machines, so families can keep their clothes clean and in good condition.

  • Fully equipped bathrooms where parents can shower and children learn to care for their daily hygiene, including brushing their teeth.

  • Regular meetings with the association’s psychologist for both children and parents, helping them overcome emotional difficulties.

  • Educational sessions on personal hygiene, organised in partnership with the Red Cross.

  • An annual medical check-up (dental and ophthalmological), followed by any care needed to safeguard the children’s health.

Through these measures, we make sure every child and family receives the support they need for a healthier, more balanced life.
