MIA Tailoring workshops

MIA Tailoring workshops

The workshop was created in 2009 by a French expatriate.

The aim of this workshop is to offer women from disadvantaged social backgrounds the opportunity to learn sewing. Currently, the Mia Workshop hosts 5 women from Sector 5, Bucharest, guided by a professional seamstress. These women have children enrolled in Valentina House programs and/or have a genuine desire to gain professional experience that, after two years of training, will allow them to enter the job market outside the workshop.

The workshop is located within Casa Valentina, which welcomes around 100 children in a school support program. This provides the seamstresses with a structured and family-like environment conducive to their development.

Mia believes in the central role of women within the family, empowering them to learn a trade, regain their dignity, and take part in the economic and social life of their country.

The goal of the Mia Workshop is to expand the association so it can help women in the program transition into employment and welcome new trainees.

Since its creation, Mia has developed a wide range of products:

  • Children’s clothing (ages 2–12) > including costumes

  • Home decorations

  • Bags & kits

  • Accessories

All our products can be made in a wide variety of fabrics available upon request.

Since 2013, we also offer an embroidery service to personalize your items. Today, Mia has developed specific skills in performing alterations and creating custom-made, personalized products (such as curtains, drapes, and clothing).
